Review
Florentino arrived in France at the age of 14, conquered Louis XIV as a dancer and violinist until he became a superintendent of real music. Since 1672 he had the monopoly of opera in France.
He created with Molière the comedia-ballet and, with the librettista Quinault, the tragédie en musique, the base of the French opera. He died of gangrene after hitting his foot with the cane he marked the compass with.
