Jesi - Pozzuoli

Review

Formed in a conservatory in Naples, he succeeded with La serva godmother (1733), a short comic intermezzo that, years later, unleashed in Paris the «Bun complaint» and opened the way to the opera bufa.

A tuberculosis patient, he retired to a convent in Pozzuoli, where he finished his Stabat Mater shortly before he died at the age of 26. It is one of the most interpreted sacred works of the 18th century.
