Life

Alexander Scriabin was born in Moscow on January 6, 1872 (December 25, 1871 according to the Julian calendar). Pianist formed at the Moscow Conservatory, his first works, preludes, studies and mazurcas, drink directly from Chopin.

Over the years he developed a language of his own and visionary, built on chords of quarts like the call «mystic chord», ever further away from tonality. He was fascinated by theosophy and the union of the arts, and he wrote Promethée with a part for «keyboard of lights» who was projecting colors. His suspended atmospheres match him with impressionism, although his path was unique. He died in Moscow on April 27, 1915, at the age of forty-three.
