Review
Ordained priest in 1703 —They called him «the red-headed priest»—He soon stopped saying mass and devoted himself to music. For decades he taught at the Ospedale della Pietà in Venice, whose orchestra of young orphans was famous throughout Europe.
He wrote about five hundred concerts, which set the form in three movements, in addition to operas and sacred music. He died poor in Vienna and was almost forgotten until his rediscovery in the 20th century.
