Review

The son of Alessandro Scarlatti, in Rome, measured his talent with the young Händel in a famous keyboard duel. He later became a master of music in Lisbon of the infamous Maria Barbara of Braganza.

When she married the future Fernando VI, she followed her to Spain in 1729 and spent the rest of her life in Seville and Madrid. Its 555 key sonatas, full of Spanish rhythms and guitars, are unique in their time.
