Review

Formed in the Escolania of Montserrat, in 1752 he entered the monastery of El Escorial, where he was an organist and master of chapel for the rest of his life as a Jerome monk. There he was able to deal with Domenico Scarlatti, whose influence is evident in his music, and was master of the infant Don Gabriel.

He left about 150 keyboard sonatas of great virtuosism and originality, six concerts for two key instruments and abundant vocal music. His Key treaty of modulation (1762) was very advanced for his time.
