Review
Child prodigy, a scholarship from Queen Elizabeth II allowed him to study at the Conservatory of Paris, where he won the first prize in 1857. He became one of the most famous violinists of the century.
Lalo, Saint- Saëns and Bruch dedicated fundamental works to the repertoire. Their own pieces, full of Spanish and gypsy air, remain indispensable for violinists. He never missed the Sanfermines from his native Pamplona.
